I guess this is why this is such a tough issue - the Jewish people have been through so much oppression, that don't they deserve a safe haven, and why not their center of religion.....but that doesn't give them the right to put out another people. Now, "they" didn't create Israel, it was the usual suspects, the US, Britain (who occupied Palestine just before relinquishing the state to the Jews) and friends, who made a sly move in the aftermath of WWII for their own reasons. That being said, where are we today? The Palestinian people deserve a home as well, and at least for now deserve better than ghetto conditions. The plight of the Palestinians doesn't give anyone else the right to attack Israel - and Israel has yet to be attacked by an Islamic nation. It is on the shoulders of the western world to look after the Palestinian people, even to protect them from Israel, which true, is acting on the defensive for its own reasons.

If I lived in a neighbourhood where my family and I had been constantly attacked all our lives, we would become pretty aggressive in our defence too.

I don't condone the actions of Israel, but for them to do less would be to commit suicide. It is the surrounding Islamic world who have to back off; perhaps then Israel could engage in some real talks to discuss the Palestinian problem. We all demand an independent Palestine, but would this be in the best interests of Israel?

In a way the US was responsible for the creation of Israel becoming a reality; it would hardly turn its back on them after fifty years, would it?

Cheers,

Something is seriously amiss in the “Western World”. Maybe if they held a special session of the UN to discuss “something”, then maybe we could trick the US and Israel into sitting down to the table. But as soon as they find out what that something is, you know they will take all their toys and go home. The fact that “something” can’t be discussed at Durban II shameful. Israel has institutionalized racism, it is a state based on a religious/ethnicity it’s rather as if it were in their charter to be racist and with Zionism as that charter; racism is innate in the state of Israel.
